The Red Cross estimated 45,000-50,000 people were in the devastating

earthquake in Haiti killed as rescuers race against time to find

survivors.
The United States is sending up to 3,500 soldiers and 2,200 Marines, but

correspondents say, the help is so slow that the extent
President Barack Obama has promised one of the largest relief operations

in the recent history of the United States and Haiti said not to be

forgotten in this hour of need
Aid agencies say they need food, water, lift, medical supplies and

equipment.
President Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, in cooperation with

Brazil, Canada and other countries, a conference on the reconstruction of

Haiti to organize, said the French presidency.
The Red Cross estimates that almost three million people in Haiti affected

by the earthquake Tuesday.
Many are preparing for another night without shelter or in temporary camps

in the devastated capital of Port-au-Prince to spend.
Correspondents say there are bodies stacked in the streets and still no

sign of a coordinated relief efforts.
Speaking Thursday in Washington, Obama said that there were some American

rescuers already on the ground in Haiti, and more came.
He promised that the country every element of our national capacity, our

diplomacy and development assistance, the performance of our armed forces

and especially the compassion of our country after the disaster.
Speak for the people of Haiti, with clarity and conviction, we will not be

abandoned, not forgotten, he said.
Haiti is at a critical point in time.
I met two schools collapsed completely, you can see the bodies trapped

inside - but there were no rescue teams on the ground. I have not seen

anyone in two days that I’m here.
Haitians are still digging through the rubble with their hands. The

agencies are starting to build, both in the streets and public places.
There are no coffins, no arrangements for funerals. It is logical that the

promised relief efforts began in earnest.
But he warned it would take time for the urgently needed aid to reach

people.
Obama has also pledged 100 million U.S. dollars aid to Haiti immediately

and said the investment will help in the coming year on the long-term

reconstruction.
The first 100-strong contingent from the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division

to arrive in Haiti at the end of Thursday, hundreds of others here on

Friday.
The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and the USS Bataan, a Marine

Expeditionary Unit are on their way.
Gen. Douglas Fraser, head of U.S. Southern Command, told reporters that

the logistics would be the key to relief and that the U.S. forces are

trying to Port-au-Prince, Port functioning again.
Following the example of the Federal Aviation Authority temporarily

suspended relief flights to Haiti, civil, space requirements of the

Haitian government, because there is not enough on the ground for
